Emily Dang is a multilingual advocate at Monsoon Asian & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity, an organization serving victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Iowa. Her parents were refugees during the Vietnam War and immigrated to the US months before she was born. Emily grew up in a Vietnamese speaking household and often interpreted for her parents and relatives. She is also active in the LGBTQ+ community and served on multiple Pride board of directors. Outside of advocacy, Emily is passionate about performing and producing burlesque, drag, and variety shows, as well as Asian, queer, and polyamorous visibility and representation.
