Job Description
Job Title: Program Assistant
Function: The Program Assistant will assist and support the Executive Director and other staff in carrying out high-level program development, advocacy, organizing, negotiations, communications, coalition building, organizational leadership, management, and fundraising.
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours & Availability:
- Part-time – 20 hours a week
- Available to travel statewide using the personal and insured vehicle
- Available to travel nationally to attend conferences/training
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and at least another language
- Undergraduate degree in a related field
- Knowledgeable about gender-based violence, anti-oppression, social justice, intersectionality, community building
- Experience in working with marginalized communities, particularly communities of color
- Knowledgeable about technology and social media
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in writing skills that includes the ability to compose varied correspondence in a precise, accurate, and easily understandable manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work with diverse groups of people and to handle difficult or sensitive situations and people tactfully
- Strong initiative, creativity, and motivation, including the ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
- Experience in community outreach/organizing/mobilization
- Experience in training and presentations

General Responsibilities:
Program Support – Assist the staff in preparing program materials, policy research and analysis, and related program activities.
Communications Support – Help the staff in monitoring, preparing and disseminating written and spoken communications across multiple media.
Administrative Support – Schedule meetings, organize travel logistics, maintain the calendar and provide related support to the staff.
Information Management – Help capture, process, and organize data for Monsoon’s overall direct services, community outreach, and staff hours.
Specific Duties
Program Support
- Take notes and action minutes at key program meetings
- Compile and disseminate program materials and documents
Communications Support
- Assist in drafting, editing and disseminating written communications
- Assist in maintaining Twitter feed, blog posts and related production
- Assist in responding to email and other correspondence
Administrative Support
- Help maintain and manage the organization’s overall calendar
- Organize, schedule and prepare for meetings with key people and partners
- Arrange travel reservations and logistics for the staff
- Arrange community meetings and other logistics needed for community meetings
- Preparation of admin reports
- Provide other administrative and office management support, as needed
Information Management
- Maintain Monsoon’s direct services and community outreach database
- Maintain files and other materials
- Maintain the staff workload management database
General Office
- Oversees office maintenance
- Oversees office supplies
- Keep track of office equipment such as laptops, video projectors used for presentations, phone systems and copiers
- Call repair technicians if needed
Special Events
- Review and become familiar with Monsoon events and outreach efforts
- Assists in the planning and implementation of community events
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director
Salary: Beginning salary of $17,500 per year for the part-time position
