monsoon has been making major changes to our healing garden: we replaced our traditional lawn and in-ground garden with rocks and raised garden beds to save water, eliminate the need for pesticides and herbicides, and prevent soil erosion. reducing water use is currently an urgent need as drought conditions and heatwaves spread and intensify. along with striving to be more environmentally sustainable, monsoon has also opened up the healing garden to the community to provide fresh produce and green space.
in july, monsoon will continue hosting times for community members to harvest their own produce at the healing garden! the produce is free, but donations are accepted. we will also have several pop-up cafe dates throughout july and an open house later in the month. join us at 1212 e.17th court, des moines every wednesday and saturday from 8am to 12pm; and sunday from 4pm to 8pm
