Join us for a screening of Bitter Melon (2018), a dark comedy that confronts the “model minority” myth and shines light on family dynamics within the Filipino-American community. Set in San Francisco, the film follows a family coming together for the holidays, uncovering tensions that challenge cultural stereotypes and expectations.
After the film, we’ll open space for discussion on how the “model minority” label impacts Asian and Pacific Islander communities today.
This event is free and open to adults.
